John Stuart Mill believed in free markets and economic democracy, and that economic democracy should replace capitalism. However, even though he had a liberal view on economy, he did accept interventions in the economy such as taxation on certain items if there was a general approval of a certain item being taxed for a general benefit. He was also in favor of a cooperative wage system replacing the current wage system they had in place in England.

What change in immigration policy was reflected in the 1965 immigration Act?
daser333 [38]

Answer:

The major change in the U.S immigration policy that was reflected in the United States Immigration Act of 1965 was the abolition of the quota system of immigration based on national origin which was what was invoke prior to the enactment of the 1965 Immigration Act.

Explanation:

The United States Immigration Act of 1965 brought with it innovation in the U.S immigration policy. Prior to the enactment of the Act, immigration into the U.S was based on a quota system which was bench-marked on national origin. The quota system was viewed as discriminatory, thus some civil rights movements clamored against it and called for a reform of the United States Immigration policy. This led to a heated debate in the United States congress, and consequently, the enactment of the 1965 Immigration Act which abolished the quota system and enthroned a more liberal immigration policy which was more accommodating of immigrants. The 1965 Immigration Act focused more on absorbing immigrants with skilled labor and refugees from war torn countries into the United States as well as reuniting immigrant families.

How was japan during the samurai period different?
Trava [24]
Back then samurais were needed for protection and/or war, the imperial palace would have them serve as guards, and some Lords or higher ups would have them go into battle, but now Higher ups and the emperor’s have highly trained body guards so there is no need for samurais.

How did empire building from 1450 - 1750 change global interactions? Or how people lived?
vampirchik [111]

Answer:

No other era is as easy to summarize as the EARLY MODERN (1450-1750) era.  This is the era the Europeans "wake-up", expand, and build empires.  I'm not talking about Charlemagne here.  I'm talking about the British Empire.  I'm talking about the Dutch East India Trading Company.  I'm talking about the Spanish Empire. This is a new Europe.  This isn't Marco Polo.  These Europeans will come to your land and stay there. They will take over most of the world in this era (if not, in the next).  Beyond the Maritime empires (and the effect of their establishment), many huge land empires emerged (most notably the Islamic Mughal and Ottoman Empires.  Of course, China is important.
