The British government takes control of the East India Company's territories. In 1858 India’s companies were in great debt so the British, by Government of India Act, ruled that the Company should be governed by the British Crown.

India's textile industry collapses. Around 1880, India textile industry declined because of competition, India could not meet British demands for quality, price and quantity of textile, so the Industry just collapsed.

Gandhi promoted India independence from British. Around 1915 Gandhi became an important figure for the independence of India, whom is very known for his non-violent protests regarding this matter.
