<h3>The cost of 1 pineapple is $ 8 and cost of 1 melon is $ 5</h3>

<u><em>Solution:</em></u>

Let "x" be the cost of 1 pineapple

Let "y" be the cost of 1 melon

<em><u>3 pineapples and 2 melons for $34</u></em>

Therefore,

3x + 2y = 34 -------- eqn 1

<em><u>my friend buys 2 pineapples and 4 melons for $36</u></em>

Therefore,

2x + 4y = 36 --- eqn 2

<em><u>Let us solve eqn 1 and eqn 2</u></em>

<em><u>Multiply eqn 1 by -2</u></em>

-6x -4y = -68 -------- eqn 3

Add eqn 2 and eqn 3

2x + 4y = 36

-6x -4y = -68

( + ) -------------

-4x = -32

<h3>x = 8</h3>

Substitute x = 8 in eqn 1

3(8) + 2y = 34

2y = 34 - 24

2y = 10

<h3>y = 5</h3>

Thus cost of 1 pineapple is $ 8 and cost of 1 melon is $ 5

The augmented matrix of a consistent system of five equa- tions in seven unknowns has rank equal to three. How many parameters a
dangina [55]

Answer:

It is necessary four parameters.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the augmented matrix of the consistent system has rank equal to three then the number of free variables is (number of unknows)-rank then there are 7-3=4 free variables. This means that are necessary four parameter to specify all solutions.

Mrs. Jones bought 6 kilograms of rice. After filling 10 containers with the same
9966 [12]

There are 514 gram rice in each container.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Amount of rice = 6 kg

1 kg = 1000 g

6 kg = 6*1000 = 6000 g

Number of containers  = 10

Rice left = 860 g

Let,

x be the amount in each container.

Total amount of rice - Number of containers*Amount in each container = Amount of rice left

6000-10x=860\\6000-860=10x\\5140=10x\\10x=5140

Dividing both sides by 10

\frac{10x}{10}=\frac{5140}{10}\\x=514

There are 514 gram rice in each container.
