In order to form a lake or a marsh, the water must not be able to move in a certain type of environment. In other words, it can be said that water must be stagnant. This water remains almost undisturbed (stagnant) at the low elevated areas, where the height is less and the area is somewhere near to the mean sea level.
From the above-given image, it can be concluded that the most favorable location for the formation of a lake or a marsh is at location B which is near the base of the hilly region and are almost near the sea level.
