Hokku is the opening stanza of an orthodox collaborative linked poem, or renga, and of its later derivative, renku (or haikai no renga). By the time of Matsuo Bashō (1644–1694), the hokku had begun to appear as an independent poem, and was also incorporated in haibun (a combination of prose and hokku), and haiga (a combination of painting with hokku). In the late 19th century, Masaoka Shiki (1867–1902) renamed the standalone hokku to haiku.[20] The latter term is now generally applied retrospectively to all hokku appearing independently of renku or renga, irrespective of when they were written, and the use of the term hokku to describe a stand-alone poem is considered obsolete.[21]

FOR MANY RETURNING VETS, 'MORAL INJURY' JUST AS DIFFICULT
wariber [46]

Answer:

D. “It’s not something that you ever forget; just like any tragedy or trauma that you encounter, lives with you forever.” ( Paragraph 15)

Explanation:

In the interview piece with Captain Timothy Kudo, Rachel Martin reveals how one encounter with two civilians led to the life-long trauma of war veterans which the government is now terming "moral injury". The piece recalls how Capt. Kudo had to act the way he did to save his men and his mission from jeopardy but at the same time, is something that affects him in the later years.

The line or quote which best describes the effect of the encounter with the men in the motorbike is -"It’s not something that you ever forget; just like any tragedy or trauma that you encounter, lives with you forever". This shows how the emotional or mental injury carries on even after the men return back from the war zone.

Thus, the correct answer is option D.
