Answer:

1. Monarch --- a person who rules a nation for life or by hereditary right

2. Enlightened --- describes a person who is open-minded and understands all the facts

3. Autocratic --- describes a form of government where one person has absolute power

4. Despot --- a ruler with absolute power

5. Serfdom --- farmland owned by nobility and run by enslaved workers

6. Absolutism --- a political system whose ruler is unchecked and absolute

7. Parliamentary --- legislative body made up of elected and nonelected members

Explanation:

1- A monarch is a type of head of state. Monarchs usually inherit their status and rule their entire lives from the day of their coronation. Historically, monarchs have often been more or less monopolistic. Today, many monarchs are, above all, front-runners with little or no political power.

2- A person is said to be enlightened when he possesses a wide range of knowledge and breadth of mind regarding a subject or a posture of life.

3- An autocracy is a form of government in which unlimited power is exercised by one person. Most of these autocracies have systematically suppressed opponents and disssenters of the dictator, for example, by imprisoning or even murdering them.

4- Despotism is a form of government in which the head of state (the despot) independently manages the limits of his own power and can control everything according to his own interests.

5- Serfdom is a term for the relationship between a peasant and a landowner in pre-modern Europe. The farmer was a tenant of the land and was thus legally bound to its owner. The relationship also included the peasant's physical dependence and his duty to respect the master's will.

6- Absolutism is a form of state in which the power of the head of state is not restricted in any way. Here, the head of state is also above the law.

7- The parliamentary system is a form of government in which the executive is accountable to parliament. In a country with a parliamentary system, the head of government is generally not directly elected by the people, which would after all give him a direct mandate and thus more power.
