What was a way for a poor person in Europe to have a chance at a better life?
babunello [35]

Answer:

being an indentured servant

Explanation:

The servants were laborers of the great lands commanded by the 'masters' and lived in the vicinity of the property. They were tied to the land for work, had no right to pay or benefits, but worked to live on the spot and received the necessary supplies to feed and survive. For this reason, the way for a poor person in Europe to have a chance at a better life was to become a indentured servant.

1. Why did the US become involved in the Panama Canal?
Vilka [71]
The United States wanted a method of export and transportation to and from the United States originally when Panama was a part of Colombia. This is why they helped Panama's revolution to become its own independent country. If they had good relations and Panama went as planned, the US could finally build the canal they wanted so badly. The canal now allows transportation of many of the goods we purchase and use today here in the United States.

What arguments did the US government use to justify building railroads despite the damage to native cultures? How did such damag
andrew-mc [135]

Explanation:

I believe they used the phrase "Manifest Destiny." In other words, they believed that it was their destiny to have the land and to build upon it.

The damage outweighed the benefits to the American people because it meant they got to "have more." In other words, more money.

The government could have made an agreement with the natives and possibly allowed them to continue living on the land, perhaps, that would have caused less wars or battles in the end.

Explain the system of the old regime and describe the characteristics of each estate
Fynjy0 [20]
The system of the old regime is when France had the feudal system, the 1st Estate, the 2nd Estate, and the 3rd Estate. During the old regime, there was no social mobility amongst the Estates. The King also had absolute power while the three estates had no political power. The 1st Estate were the clergy who were rich and owned a lot of land. The 2nd Estate were the nobles, who also had a lot of land and were rich. The 3rd Estate were the peasants and the commoners, who were poor and had very little land.
