Suppose that a young couple has just had their first baby and they wish to ensure that enough money will be available to pay for

their child's college education. They decide to make deposits into an educational savings account on each of their daughter's birthdays, starting with her first birthday until her 18th birthday. The parents deposit $3,000 on their daughter's first birthday and plan to increase the size of their deposits by 5% each year. Assume that the educational savings account will return a constant 6%. The parents would deposit $ 3150 on the second birthday.

Explanation:

The initial amount deposited on the first birthday- $ 3000

Incremental % for each year deposit- 5 %

Rate of Interest provided by the education savings account- 6%

The term for which they would be depositing- 18 years (until the baby turns of 18 years means 18 annual instalments)

The amount that parents would deposit on the second birthday-

The amount deposited by parents would be 5% more than the amount deposited by them on the previous birthday

Hence incremental amount would be 5% of 3000

(5/100) *3000= $ 150

The amount that would be deposited on 2nd birthday would be 3000+150= $ 3150

Oriole Products manufactures two component parts: AJ40 and AJ60. AJ40 components are being introduced currently, and AJ60 parts
stepladder [879]

Answer:

Total allocated cost for AJ40 $189,000

Total allocated cost for AJ60 $283,500

Total $472,500

Explanation:

Calculation to Estimate the cost of engineering change orders for AJ40 and AJ60

First step is to calculate for the Total number of change orders

AJ40 AJ60

Units planned 1,500 1,500

÷No. of change orders 4 2

=Total number of change orders 375 +750=1,125

Second step is to for the Total cost of change order

AJ40 AJ60

Units planned 1,500 1,500

×Machine hours per unit 1 1.5

=Total machine hours required 1,500 + 2,250 =3,750

Third step is to find the Total cost of change order

AJ40 AJ60

Total number of change orders 375 750

× Cost of a change order $420 $420

=Total cost of change order $157,500 $315,00

Total cost of change order=$157,500 +$315,000

=Total cost of change order = $472,500

Now let Estimate the cost of engineering change orders for AJ40 and AJ60 using Traditional system

TRADITIONAL SYSTEM

Total allocated cost for AJ40 $189,000 (472,500*1,500/3,750)

Total allocated cost for AJ60 $283,500 (472,500*2,250/3,750)

Hence,

Total allocated cost for AJ40 $189,000+Total allocated cost for AJ60 $283,500

=$472,500

Fed [463]

Answer:

C) financing government spending through a Treasury sale of bonds that are then purchased by the Fed

Explanation:

The Fed is the only entity that can expand or contract the country's monetary base, and it does it with open market operations. In this case, the Fed is injecting money into the financial system and expanding the monetary base by purchasing treasury bonds, which is basically like my right hand lends money to my left hand, that is why it is called printing money.
