Answer:

People support the government in exchange for rights and protection.

Explanation:

Enlightenment thinker John Locke, conceived the social contract for a legitimate authority of the state over peoples, where given such individual rights are given to obtain the benefits of coexisting in a civil society.

A state exists only to serve the will of the peoples, and bases its political power in them to protect them.

The social contract became a foundational principle set in the early formation of the American political system who advocates for individuals' rights and protection of private property.

Also, it seeks citizens to carry business and economic activity with limited state intervention.

John Locke an English man from the Enlightenment was the main ponent of this idea, suggesting individuals can decide to give or withhold the power they gave to a sovereign.

How did monarchies originate
and why is this form of
government so difficult to
change?
Vladimir [108]

Answer:

Explanation:

Monarchies originated for a newly founded society to function with a leader at the top. They originated at around 3000 BCE most likely in Egypt or Sumer and kings and queens held a divine status there and in many countries after them.

It is difficult to change a type of government in general because that requires changing many parts of how that particular society works. And since the monarch class holds most or all power in a given state it is very hard to convince them that they should stop ruling. This is why violent revolutions against absolute monarch rule happened many times in history.

Explain how the “White Man’s Burden” differs from Cecil Rhodes point of view on imperialism.
Vladimir [108]

The White Man's Burden is a rhetorical mandate to the white man to colonize the other races for the benefit of these same, being their "burden" both the task and the people themselves to colonize. Because of this issue, as well as the resounding title, it soon became an emblem of colonial rule and Eurocentrism.

On the other hand, Rhodes had a mystical concept of imperialism. It owes much to him the conception of the Cape-Cairo axis, which for a long time inspired the British colonial policy and that ended up becoming reality at the cost of the Portuguese, French and German aspirations in Africa.

He wanted British settlers and governors, with local politicians. This put him in conflict with many in Britain, as well as with British missionaries who were not in favor of what was happening in the colony.

In other words, The White Man's Burden proposed a cultural colonization, while Cecil Rhodes only sought the economic exploitation of the territories.
