Answer: Cotton.

Explanation:

The cultivation and trade of cotton have an ancient history, different cultures throughout the world have domesticated and cultivated cotton to produce textile products, for example, cotton crops have been found in India, Egypt, and pre-Columbian America.

In recent history, cotton has played a critical role in industrial development, and its cultivation and demand have greatly increased. However, due to the loss of crops in the US due to the weevil plague, to maintain demand, its price increased considerably, therefore, this crop would provide a greater economic benefit in 1900.

Why did key basic industries lose business
poizon [28]

Key basic industries, such as railroads, textiles, and steel had barely made a profit. Railroads lost business to new forms of transportation (trucks, buses, and private automobiles, for instance). Coal mining was especially hard-hit, in part due to stiff competition from new forms of energy, including hydroelectric power, fuel oil, and natural gas.

How natural resources fueled industrial growth in America
alina1380 [7]
When settlers first arrived in the united states many of the natural resources were untouched and there was an abundance of them. So as industries started up we had plenty of materials to build things such as rail roads, houses, etc.

What was one pivotal movement in the Civil war and why was it so significant. give out details!!
Bess [88]

Answer: Atlanta

Near the end of the war, a trio of Union armies, led by Gen. William T. Sherman converged upon Atlanta, where they were met outside the city by a desperate Confederate counterattack that failed.

The Battle of Atlanta was the bloodiest part of Sherman’s March through Georgia, costing the Union 3,700 casualties, while the Confederates lost 5,500 men. Sherman’s forces continued their advance and finally surrounded the city, besieging it for the entire month of August.

Finally, on September 1, Confederate Lt. Gen. John Bell Hood, a veteran of Antietam and Gettysburg who had lost his leg at the Battle of Chickamauga, gave up and abandoned the city, allowing Sherman’s forces to enter.

The capture of Atlanta crippled the Confederate war effort. For Lincoln, who faced a difficult election in 1864 against one of his former generals, George B. McClellan, the victory provided a lift at the polls, helping him win and pursue the war to its conclusion.
