The Americans didn't have a whole lot of money and they weren't really able to get stuff like shoes and blankets for their troops. Also one in five Americans openly favored the crown. On the other hand the Americans got lucky because they were fighting the war on their own land so they were able to sneak attack the British all night long. They also had a great cause fighting for their rights, liberty, and justice.
