Interchangeable parts are parts (components) that are, for practical purposes, identical. They are made to specifications that ensure that they are so nearly identical that they will fit into any assembly of the same type. One such part can freely replace another, without any custom fitting (such as filing). This interchangeability allows easy assembly of new devices, and easier repair of existing devices, while minimizing both the time and skill required of the person doing the assembly or repair.

The concept of interchangeability was crucial to the introduction of the assembly line at the beginning of the 20th century, and has become an important element of some modern manufacturing but is missing from other important industries.

Give three examples of how the civil war and united states industry impacted each other. in other words, what influence did the
guapka [62]
One case of how the industry affected the war was that the war was in many ways caused by the growing industry. As the industry developed, there was more and more need for resources such as cotton which were produced in the farms in the south. This led to slavery becoming even more important for Southern states and why the south believed that slavery was necessary.

One effect where the war influenced the industry was that after the war, the South was ravaged and their economy was in ruins which enabled the North part to industrialize even faster and develop even faster so the Civil war actually helped North develop even more in the years after the war.

Another way that the war had an effect on industry was in the South. Since there was almost no industry in the south since it was mostly rural areas with farms, the South had to industrialize in order to improve its economy since it was impossible to go back to its farm and ranch way of living without slaves. This is why politicians started opening factories in the south and this resulted in a huge growth of Southern industry in the long run.
