Who believes that reasoning in moral matters is usually used to confirm our more direct sense of right and wrong?
natima [27]

Intuitionists believe that each of us has an immediate sense of right and wrong.

For example, we have an intuition that all human beings must be treated fairly, that it is wrong to intentionally harm an innocent person for no reason, or that all human beings must be treated with dignity. These are the beliefs moral intuitionists take for granted.

In addition to its moral epistemology, intuitionistic thinking is characterized by its non-naturalistic realism. Intuitionists argue that moral judgments are cognitive states and that at least some of those judgments are true.

For example, when you enter a cafe, the cup will be recognized as something you have seen many times. I also intuitively understand that it's likely hot and that it's easy to spill over uneven surfaces.
