Similes use like or as, metaphors compare things without like or as, myperbole is an extreme exaggeration (you can't really eat a horse), and personification is giving human traits to something that is not human :)

i know that for me when this happens I make a list of some goals I have and a list of positive things going on. just something to look at when everything feels like its falling apart. maybe a list of anything and everything that makes you happy.
