One of Orwell’s purposes in telling his story is to show how it gave him a glimpse of “the real nature of imperialism” (3). What
allochka39001 [22]

In "Shooting an Elephant" by George Orwell, "the real nature of imperialism" is shown when Orwell says that as a British officer in Burma, he himself is against colonialism because in a job like that you see the dirty work of the British Empire. And when he faces the elephant he sees clearly that even though he doesn't want to kill the elephant, he has to because the Burmese expect him to, so he is not free. By limiting the power of the others the British Empire has limited its own freedom making a place of hollow power.

1. Unless rock sample X comes from Venus, then it does not contain silicon. Rock sample X
vovikov84 [41]

1. Valid. The statement shows that if rock comes from Venus, it doesn't contain silicon. Rocks came either Mars or Venus. SO when rock contains silicon, it came from Mars not Venus.

(If Venus, then NOT silicon)

(Venus OR Mars)

(Silicon)

(Mars; Valid)

2. Invalid. It is not true that people with happiness must have a lot of money. The first premise is a false premise. Secondly, it is not true that people earn a lot of money with hard working. The second premise is also a false premise. Therefore this is an invalid statement.

Hope this help you
