Wallerstein’s world systems theory is BEST used to explain which of the following concepts?
Nady [450]

ANswer is Nationalism

World-systems theory (also known as world-systems analysis or the world-systems perspective),[1] is a multidisciplinary, macro-scale approach to world history and social change which emphasizes the world-system (and not nation states) as the primary (but not exclusive) unit of social analysis.[1][2]

"World-system" refers to the inter-regional and transnational division of labor, which divides the world into core countries, semi-periphery countries, and the periphery countries.[2]Core countries focus on higher skill, capital-intensive production, and the rest of the world focuses on low-skill, labor-intensive production and extraction of raw materials.[3] This constantly reinforces the dominance of the core countries.[3] Nonetheless, the system has dynamic characteristics, in part as a result of revolutions in transport technology, and individual states can gain or lose their core (semi-periphery, periphery) status over time.[3] This structure is unified by the division of labour. It is a world-economy rooted in a capitalist economy.[4] For a time, certain countries become the world hegemon; during the last few centuries, as the world-system has extended geographically and intensified economically, this status has passed from the Netherlands, to the United Kingdom and (most recently) to the United States.<span>[3]</span>

A human may go from being microscopic to being six feet tall in less than 16 years. What change on the cellular level accounts f
Semmy [17]
Correct answer is B.

Explanation:
In their nucleus cells contain DNA. The DNA has information about size, shape and function of each cell. When the cell reaches it's full size it stops growing and starts doing whatever it's function is. If more cells are needed then the cell replicates. This explanation excludes answers A and C.

Male and female sexual cells are used to conceive a baby. These cells combine to form a new type of cells. In the first few weeks all types of cells are created. Then the creation of new types of cells stops and existing cells multiply in order to achieve needed number of cells. This explanation excludes answer D.

When we compare an adult person and a baby we can see that, for example, an adult has bigger bones than a baby. This was result of increasing number of existing types of cells without creating any new type.

Which gulf is off the southern coast of the united states?
Brums [2.3K]
<h2>Answer: The Gulf of Mexico </h2>

The Gulf of Mexico is an ocean basin that formed after the collision of the continental plates and the sinking of the seabed during the rupture of the former Pangea mega continent millions of years ago.

This gulf is also the ninth largest water surface in the world, which is contained among the littorals of Mexico, the United States and the island of Cuba. Therefore, this mass of water corresponds to the Atlantic Ocean in the northern part of the American Continent.

Give two possible reasons proposed for the massive extinction that occurred at the end of the Paleozoic Era.
Anettt [7]

Answer:

Two possible reasons for the massive extinction at the end of the Paleozoic Era are an asteroid collision and massive volcanic eruptions.

Explanation:

The massive extinction that occurred at the end of the Paleozoic Era is the biggest extinction from what is known so far. The majority of the species died out, and whole families of animals and plants were wiped out of the face of the Earth. It was only small and highly adaptable organisms that managed to survive and give rise to the later life-forms.

The two possible reasons for this massive extinction are an asteroid impact and massive volcanic eruptions. An asteroid collision would have created drastic changes in a matter of minutes and hours, with effects lasting for a long period of time, thus eliminating the majority of the life. Massive volcanic eruptions, with the Siberian super-volcano being the prime candidate, may have caused enormous amounts of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide to end up in the atmosphere, thus rapidly changing the living conditions on the planet.
