Explain how the author starts it off. Does he start off using tone or what type of pov does he have as well? You could use a lot of literary devices when explaining your author's claim like simile, metaphor, alliteration, hyperbole, etc...

An example is:

     Vending machines are unhealthy because they cause poor eating habits and have an increase in weight gain.

Explanation: The author shows that poor eating habits can increases in you not doing your homework and also playing outside. Eating from the vending machine is like eating pure lard.( Lard is fat ). The weight gain can also increase in many other ways. Not only that, eating from vending machines can make you get cavities and even diabetes as well because it mostly contains just fat and sugar and no nutrients to supplement your body.
