Abraham Maslow developed what he called the hierarchy of human needs, and it's usually expressed through a pyramid. The hierarchy consists of five levels. A lower level must be satisfied in order for a person to satisfy the next one.
In the pyramid, the base is conformed by physiological needs, such as eating and sleeping; this is followeed by safety needs, love and belonging needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization needs.
