It would be (0, -3)

A translation means to just slide it left or right.

So, if we are translating Point A five units to the right, we would determine where our point would be at the beginning, which is (-5, -3).

On the x-axis we would count 5 units to the left (because it is negative) then we would count three units down ( not up, because it is negative)

That is where our original point A would be placed.

So when we translate, all you would do is move it over five units to the right and your point ends up being only on the y-axis which is why your x axis is 0 and your y axis is -3

I know it's kind of confusing when it is typed, but if you would like me to try and explain a little more just let me know :)

Hope this helps

jonny [76]
We just use the sinus rule to calculate this

a / sin alpha = b / sin beta

Alpha is the 90 degree angle from the wall to the floor
beta is the angle from the top of the ladder to the wall,
wich is 90 degrees - 75 degrees (triangle has 180 degrees angles, one is 90 degrees), so beta = 15 degrees

14 foot / sin 90 = b / sin 15
sin 90 = 1
we move the sin15 over to the other side

14 foot x sin 15 = b
b = 3.62 foot

How can you estimate 1,506 divided 2 so that it is close to the actual answer
NeTakaya
Think of dividing by 2 splitting it in half, if you round it you get about 1500 then split that in half. it would be around 750.
