Similar to the MLA format, the citation must contain the last name of the author and the number(s) of the page(s) used in parentheses throughout the article.

When you write in-text citations using MLA format, you always reference the author's last name. Basically, include in your parentheses whatever the first word of the entire citation is. If there is no author provided, then you'll go with the article/book title.
