In the age of the enlightenment people shifted their mentality, suddenly it didn't matter if you were rich or powerful, all it mattered is how smart, educated, innovative and serious you were. This led to many breakthroughs and tendency to write things down boosting the overall society's education and interest in science, tech, philosophy etc.

That's all I know (I'm more mathematically oriented) but I hope this helps.

How was life like in polis
Otrada [13]

Answer:

A polis (plural: poleis) was the typical structure of a community in the ancient Greek world. A polis consisted of an urban centre, often fortified and with a sacred centre built on a natural acropolis or harbour, which controlled a surrounding territory (chora) of land. The term polis has, therefore, been translated as ‘city-state’ as there was typically only one city and because an individual polis was independent from other poleis in terms of political, judicial, legal, religious and social institutions and practices, each polis was in effect a state. Like a state, each polis was also involved in international affairs, both with other poleis and non-Greek states in the areas of trade, political alliances and wars. Other cultures had a similar social and political structure, notably, the Babylonians, Etruscans and Phoenicians, and the latter are believed to be the originators of the polis as a communal unit.

The polis emerged from the Dark Ages which followed the fall of the Mycenaean civilization in Greece and by the 8th century BCE a significant process of urbanisation had begun. There were eventually over 1,000 poleis in the Greek World but among the most important were Athens, Sparta, Corinth, Thebes, Syracuse, Aegina, Rhodes, Argos, Eretria, and Elis. The biggest was Sparta, although with some 8,500 km² of territory, this was exceptionally large and most poleis were small in size. However, poleis such as Athens, Rhodes and Syracuse possessed significant naval fleets which also allowed them to control wide areas of territory across the Aegean

How might water pollution affect the following: irrigation, industry, & trade, access to education
Karolina [17]

Answer:

Irrigation highly depends on water sources in order for it to work. Without clean water, crops will die and wither. And polluted water causes filthy and contaminated trade routes, which are unsafe to travel across. Also, education has water fountains in the buildings (not sure now cuz of corona but clean water is used in school buildings.

You have to choose something like the Berlin Airlift for example, and you need to explain how it reflected the us policy of containment.

Be sure to add the bolded parts

here is some information you could use for the article you need to write--
<span> --The Berlin Airlift came about as a result of an economic crisis and an attempt by the West to introduce a new currency to stabilize the country’s finances.

The Russians closed access to the Western-controlled sectors of Berlin, threatening to starve the people in those sectors unless the Allies withdrew their currency plans.

Since ground and rail transportation routes were blocked by the Communists, the west flew planes into West Berlin with food and supplies, starting in June of 1948.

By the following spring, more supplies were reaching the city than had previously arrived by rail, and the Soviets ended the blockade in May of 1949. None of this changed the boundaries or lowered tensions much.

--</span>
The West, primarily the U.S. simply maintained the status quo with their policy of containment so that Communism didn’t speak significantly into other parts of the world. The freedom of West Berlin was an example of the will of the West to maintain that containment.

--

<span>The thinking at the time was that, if South Viet Nam fell to the Communists in the North, then the other countries in the region would “fall like dominoes.” (</span><span>the domino theory)
