Answer: Rate  = 7.5  miles per hour

The cyclist will travel 37.5 miles in 5 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A cyclist rides his bike at a rate of 11 feet per second.

Also, 1 mile = 5280 feet.

Then, by Unitary method , \text{ 1 foot}=\dfrac{1}{5280}\text{ mile}

1 hour = 3600 seconds

Then, \text{ 1 second}=\dfrac{1}{3600}\text{ hour}

Then,

\text{Rate}=\text{11 feet per second}=11\times\dfrac{1}{5280}\times3600\\\\=7.5\text{ miles per hour}

i.e.  Distance covered in 1 hour = 7.5 miles

Then, the distance covered in 5 hours will be :5\times7.5=37.5\text{ miles}

Hence, the cyclist will travel 37.5 miles in 5 hours.

Kristin spent $131 on shirts. Fancy shirts cost $28 and plain shirts cost $15. If she bought a total of 7 then how many of each
Tpy6a [65]
Hi there!!

First, Let plain shirts be x
Let fancy shirts be y
x + y = 7
15x + 28y = 131
Multiply first equation by 28 to eliminate y:
28x + 28y = 196
<span>15x + 28y = 131
</span>Subtracting the two equations:
13x = 65
<span>x = 5 </span>
Substituting x to get y:
x + y = 7
5 + y = 7
<span>y = 2 </span>
<span>Answer: 5 plain shirts and 2 fancy shirts
</span>
Hope this helps u!!

The histogram shows the speeds of downhill skiers during a competition. Estimate the mean of the data set displayed in the histo
Ostrovityanka [42]

Answer:

≈50.6

Step-by-step explanation:

Not sure what precision level this problem is looking for, but for right-skewed distributions, we know that the mean is going to be pulled right and therefore the mean should be larger than the median. To a high confidence level, the mean should fall between 50 and 59, or in the third column.

If a single estimation is wanted, assume the values inside each column are uniformly distributed:

\displaystyle\\\widehat{\mu}=\frac{34.5\cdot 4+...+74.5\cdot 2}{4+9+4+4+2}\approx \boxed{50.6}
