Once you get violent, people see you movement and cause as violent. This can turn away potential supporters and make your cause look bad.

Though the British quickly established control it was still an important event in the US history. The indentured servants and the slaves had an alliance here but the strengthening of the slave laws happened in order to divide them. The slave labor became more profitable and thus became preferred labor.
