Answer:

Susan B. Anthony first stated the purpose of her speech was to prove that she "not only committed no crime, but, instead, simply exercised my citizen's rights, guaranteed to me and all United States citizens by the National Constitution, beyond the power of any state to deny."

Explanation:

Susan B. Anthony was a women's rights activist in America and a social reformer who was a pioneering figure for the women suffrage movement in America. She was convicted of unlawfully participating in the presidential elections of 1872 of which her speech was based on.

In the opening paragraph of her speech, Susan B. Anthony stated that her aim was to prove that she did not do anything wrong in participating in the election. She stated that she had been <em>"indict[ed] for the alleged crime of having voted at the last presidential election, without having a lawful right to vote"</em>. She then proceeded to state that her main aim for giving this speech was to prove that she <em>"not only committed no crime, but, instead, simply exercised my citizen's rights, guaranteed to me and all United States citizens by the National Constitution, beyond the power of any state to deny."</em>

How did Countee Cullen and James Baldwin differ in their criticism of Hughes's work?
o-na [289]

Answer:

Cullen claimed that Hughes' writing focused on American life, but ignored the African heritage of African Americans and believed that this was a disservice. Baldwin, on the other hand, circled the simple language adopted by Hughes in his poems, which, according to Baldwin, presented weak, irrelevant and meaningless agendas.

Explanation:

Cullen, Baldwin and hughes were American writers very committed to the causes of civil rights and the difficulties that African-Americans suffered in a racist and prejudiced American society. Although both authors used the same themes, they approached them in different ways and with different approaches, which meant that they often did not agree with each other's work and form of writing, which generated many literary criticisms from each other.

It clarifies that the plague was the biggest killer in Elizabethan England.

Explanation:

The bubonic plague spread to London throughout the Elizabethan age, more than two hundred years during the pandemic in the 14th century. The most significant outbreaks occurred in 1563, 1593, 1603, 1625, and 1665, with several occurrences. Elizabethan was a gloomy, grim, scary place to live during most of the outbreaks.

Approximate 100,000 citizens have been killed by the pandemic, which was dubbed The Big Plague of London in 1665. This began in May 1665 and destroyed the town until the great storm in London of Sept of the same year. Most rats and fleas carrying bacteria were destroyed by fire.
