"<span>Coureur des Bois" is the french term for "Runners of the Wood" who were independent European traders living among native Americans (Indians).

They were </span><span>independent entrepreneurial </span>French-Canadian <span>woodsmen who ventured into the woods usually to trade European items for fur. Along they way, these traders learnt the practices and common trades of the native Americans.</span>
