her mother, who was a school teacher, believed that, "Any room in our
house, at any time in the day, was there to read in or to be read to".

books to each other in the evenings. This significantly contributed to Eudora's
desire to write books.

machines. This was instrumental to Eudora’s love for all things mechanical, so
she made use of technology symbolism in her stories.
