The answer is B. (sorry about the comment above)

The antagonist is <span>a person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something so thats not correct.

A bookend is </span>a support placed at the end of a row of books to keep them upright, typically forming one of a pair isn't correct either.

Answer would be conflict. Antagonist is essentially the protagonist's enemy.
