Computer hardware is the physical aspect of computing, whereas computer software is the virtual aspect of computing. So for instance: the motherboard is a piece of hardware, but my operating system is a piece of software.

  • Hardware is constructed using physical materials or components.

  • It operates under the control of a software.

  • If hardware is damaged, it is replaced with new one.

  • It is not affected by computer viruses.

  • We cannot make new duplicate copies of the hardware.

  • We can create duplicate copies of the software.

Example :- Windows, Linux, etc.
