A region can refer to a portion of territory constituted by aspects such as climate, topography or administration. Likewise, it can refer to geographical, historical and social characteristics
1. A region is a geographic area sharing common characteristics. A region can be formal, functional or perceptual based on the type of features defining that region.
2. A formal region is an area which is identified by purely demographic characteristics or the similarities among the people found in that particular region.
3. Demographic characteristics include climate, vegetation, landform and other physical features of the geographic location.
4. People sharing language, religion and other cultural similarities living together in an area to form the identity of that region.
