He shows many personality traits throughout the play. Good and bad. In the beginning he prevents Tybalt from hurting Romeo though he is a Montague. This shows respect and empathy to his character. Later on, however, he tells Juliet that he will disown her if she is not to marry Paris. This shows that he believes that only he is correct and that his rules should be followed.
