Virginia's climate allowed many crops to grow on the lands of many white rich landowners. So, in order to increase the harvesting and planting they transported slaves from Africa in the trans Atlantic slave trade, resulting in the establishment of slavery.

Likewise, the united states back then was also a colony of India and had no representation as well as had to pay taxes from laws such as the stamp act. Their values in fighting for independence and free reign were very similar. So yes.
