He was born April 28, 570, in Mecca, and died June 8, 632 in Medina. He had 13 wives and seven children, three sons and four daughters.

Explanation:

  • Muhammad is believed to have been born between 20 and 26 April 570 in the suburbs of Mecca. His family belonged to the Quraysh tribe. His father's name was Abdulah and his mother's name was Amina.
  • Abdullah passed away six months before the birth of his son, so his mother and grandfather took care of the boy. He was adopted by birth by a Bedouin family. Namely, in the Arab world, it was the custom for children born in cities to spend some time with nomads to solidify and avoid diseases.
  • Muslims believe that the Halima of the Benu Sa trial, the woman who breastfed him, claimed that the adoption of the boy had brought many benefits to her family and the entire tribe. She said that she did not want Muhammad at first because he was an orphan, but when she took him, a good life followed for her and her family. They had enough food for themselves and the livestock they raised, and the camel gave enough milk even though it was a dry year.
  • After four years with the nomads, Muhammad returned to the city. However, two years later his mother passed away. The care of the boy was taken over by a grandfather who had many of his sons, but his grandson was dearest.
  • The well-being lasted only two years, because then his grandfather passed away. Muhammad grew up with his uncle Abu Talib, his father Abdullah's younger brother and clan leader Banu Hashim. Traveling with the merchant caravan with his uncle, the boy became acquainted with the many customs that prevailed in the neighboring tribes. It is believed that on one journey, the Syrian monk Bahirah told him that he was the chosen prophet of God.
