The best strategy for avoiding chronic disease caused by a high calorie diet can be multiple things. If there’s a certain chronic disease please state :)


But , if it is a generalised question then cut down the calorie to the normal amount (depending on your sex, age, height and any medical issues/disorders) . To even if you’re consuming more calories then average to do healthy amounts of exercise, to follow more low fat or less sugary meals and to of course take advice from your GP/doctor in case of any medical issues. :D
