Anna Julia  Cooper believed that intelligent women’s voices brought balance to  the struggle for human rights. She strongly protested against the disparities between boys’ and girls’ curricula and the availability  of financial assistance for boys but no matching funds for girls. Cooper entered Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio in 1881 and learnt that it offered a “Ladies” course, an  experiment in educational access that was inferior to the classical course offered to men.
