Obviously first we can calculate the number of hours that he over timed. So 5 hours he worked over time. So an equation to set this up equals to 30*x + 5*1.4x = 436.60.


On re arranging the equation and making x the subject, The answer comes out to be 37 x = 436.6. x = 11.8. So he earns around 11.80 $ per hour.
