Answer:

The correct answer to the question: Which culture built the Craig Mound by hand, using layers of dirt carried in basketfuls, would be: The Caddoan Mississippian culture, today known as the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma.

Explanation:

The Spiro Mounds, to which the famous Craig Mound belongs, is a major archeological site located in today´s Eastern Oklahoma, about seven miles away from the town of Spiro, and near the Arkansa River. The Spiro Mounds were created between the 9th and 15th centuries by the Caddoan people as a powerful religious and political center and they became a major center of gathering for the Mississippian cultures. This Mound was found about during the Great Depression, when treasure hunters acquired the rights to Craig Mound and tunneled it to find that it was in fact filled with valuable archeological artifacts from the Mississippian cultures. In fact, they found that Craig Moung, the second largest of the Spiro Mounds, was actually a burial site.

svlad2 [7]

Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence  -enslaved his children

  • This is evident following the death of his wife, he fathered six children with Sally Hemmings, where four out of them were raised to become slaves on the plantation. These children include Beverly, Harriet, Madison, and Eston Hemings.

George Washington, General in the Continental Army - tried to recapture an enslaved woman who escaped to New Hampshire

  • Here, the runaway enslaved woman was known as Ona Judge, she was 22 years old when she fled in 1796. Washington tried to capture her again in 1799.

Sam Adams, politician, signer of the Declaration of Independence - failed to defend the property rights of Indigenous people.

  • This is evident in his writings which are titled "The right of the Colonists." While Sam Adams fought for the freedom of the American settlers, he failed to defend the property rights of native Americans.

Hence, it can be concluded that many US founding fathers have contradictory characters.
