In writing, you you know what it's called when you say something happy and then sad in the same sentence? For example, "The roses smelled like the breath of spring, but my heart still ached like a gaping black hole."

What I can say is the sentence contains contrast (between the "roses...spring" and "heart...hole"), there is a personification in "the roses...spring" and a simile at "heart...like a gaping black hole." I'm not sure if this helps but hopefully it does.
