Thomas Hardy's poems, and most of his works, reflected C. the grim outlook of the late Victorian era. He criticized Victorian beliefs that caused unhappiness. His poems doesn't reflect an appreciation for love and life but disappointment in those subjects.

The audience's characteristics  can be described as the characteristics that those that are participating in an argumentative essay have, so as to be able to determine if they are in support or they were not in support of the argument.

It should be noted that in an argumentative essay the audience that is in the support of the motion is been as the one that have the same perceptive with the topic, while the one that oppose the topic can be seen as one that have perspective that is different from that of the  topic.

In conclusion, to know about the audience that do not support or that support the motion can be known by their characteristics which will help to differentiate them.

He looked at the rivers in general in the first paragraph, and he clearly stated that rivers are so complex and mindboggling. In the second paragraph, he uses internal dynamics and some of the key factors that account for the complexities of rivers and make them worthy of admiration

By the middle of the passage, he tried to say that Mississippi river was alive and could not be controlled and dictated its own path.  

by the last paragraph, Barry was of the view that the Mississippi river ran back and forth, curving like an “S”.

Even though his writing style was not uniform, he tried to let his readers know the great power of the Mississippi.
