DerKrebs [107]

Answer:

In a middle school play, one of my pals got the main role, another didn't, and still another assisted with the casting.

The group might have been saved if they had discussed it earlier. After I came to California, I had nothing in common with anybody in the group. The group split up due to a blurry memory of an old feud. Even though it is painful for everybody involved, improved communication among friends may have prevented the issue.
