The main dispute in the area is to whom the land belongs. The Jewish people claim that the land is their and they should be there, while the Palestinians claim that the land belongs to them and they should be there. The conflict has been going on for a decades and there's no end in sight.

Americans felt more favorable toward entering the war because the new government in Russia was closer to a democracy than the czar's government had been. Americans did not want to ally with the czar's Russia due to its being a monarchy; however, once the czar had been deposed, Americans looked upon the idea more favorably.
