Because of the corruption in the Catholic church, Protestantism emerged. This religion quickly became just as prevalent as Catholicism, with many converting. People became more skeptic of religion and the church, which eventually led to a more secular and humanist Europe, which is reflected in the art and literature of the time period. The goal of the Catholic Reformation was to reinstate the original and traditional practices of Catholicism, that way making it the purest form of the religion. To achieve this, they also conducted mass in Latin, instead of the vernacular. This made it more difficult to understand the religion, as most people were not taught languages other than their own. hope it helps! please vote this answer the branliest, too!

There were major changes in family life, marriage, and education views changed. Moreover, the ways of the church operated had also changed as well as the rise of different types of Protestantism; Calvin's idea of predetermination; King Henry VIII's power over the new Church of England; the Anabaptists' belief in separation of state and church; new religious commands, papal reform, and the reaffirmation of traditional Catholicism in the Council of Trent.

EXPLANATION:

The Reformation, (Protestant Reformation), was the spiritual revolt that occurred in the 16th century, in the Western church. Indisputably, the utmost leaders were John Calvin and Martin Luther. With broad political, economic and social influences, the Reformation became the foundation for the establishment of Protestants, one of the three main branches of Christianity.

When the Reformation developed, alterations in power happened. While the clergy started to lose power, local leaders and aristocrats gathered it for themselves. The peasants became upset and rebelled, but their actions were convicted by Luther. Their efforts to obtain freedom from tyranny ended in tougher oppression and even death for some people. The Reformation seemed like to reduce opportunities for peasants to defy their position in the class structure.

Middle-class members were better able to challenge the church authority; they took Luther's free-thinking ideas and seized the opportunity to have more power over their religious practices. Women also got the aptitude to divorce and remarry.
