Given that sectionalism deals with restriction of interest to a narrow sphere; undue concern with local interests or petty distinctions at the expense of general well-being.

Also, that the south was the raciest towards people that looks different than them. Then it only stands to reason that the sectionalism was the one thing that the North did not like which led to the Civil War.
