Write a brief paragraph in you own words stating why the territory should be called new Spain
Gekata [30.6K]

Assuming that you are referring to the territories of today's Mexico, formerly know as New Spain, here is the paragraph:

As Hernan Cortes campaigned throughout the first continental lands of America, the idea that many Spaniards, probably even himself, harbored was that of founding Spain all over again in the newly found and conquered lands. A mix of nostalgia and pride for the Motherland, Spain, must have prompted the Conquistadors to name the cities and provinces they founded after cities and provinces already existing in Spain. One reason for using already familiar names had to do with the difficulty of pronouncing the original names of the places given by the native people, the other one had to do with a sense of control, since most people hold the belief that naming things bestows them with a degree of control over them. And yet another reason may have been the comfort of living in places named after their old home towns and provinces the Spaniards had come from.

The narrator implies that Catherine Choose 1 answer: a. did not have an enjoyable time at the ball. b. would rather not have to
Yuki888 [10]

Answer:

a. did not have an enjoyable time at the ball.

Explanation:

Jane Austen's novel Northanger Abbey tells the coming-of-age story of Catherine Morland. This novel deals with the theme of the loss of innocence and also depicts the typical Elizabethan society where wealth determines one's status.

Catherine had been invited by the family friend the Allens in Bath, where they had gone to a ball. But not being asked for a dance by anyone, Catherine felt bad and wishes that there was at least someone, anyone to talk to. She even implored on Mrs. Allen to try to find any acquaintance, asking her "are you sure there is nobody you know in all this multitude of people? I think you must know somebody" prompting her to sincerely tell her that she does not know anyone.

When asked by Mr. Allen whether she "had an agreeable ball" to which she replied "Very agreeable indeed" while at the same time "vainly endeavoring to hide a great yawn". In this scene, the narrator implies that Catherine did not have an enjoyable time at the ball, despite the "multitude of people" who were in attendance.
