The answers that apply are;

  • rice moving in a pot of water that is being heated
  • a radiator that emits warm air and draws in cool air a
  • hot air balloon rising and falling in the atmosphere

Convection currents involve the transfer of heat in fluids (such as air and liquids). Since they are not good conductors of heat, when they are heated the layers being heated (especially from below) becomes hot and less dense, These layers begin to rise while the cooler layers above begin to sink and replace the rising hot less dense layers. This cycle continues in a loop to form conventional currents.

Which of these statements is true about plate tectonics? Continental drift on the Earth is caused by circulating convection curr
MariettaO [177]

Answer:

The answer is: Continental drift on the Earth is caused by circulating convection currents in the deep interior.

Explanation:

Numerous studies and observations have shown that plate tectonics is due to the circulatory motion of convection currents within the Earth’s mantle which is below the Earth’s crust, and is as deep as 2,890 km. The motion of the convection currents are propelled by heat which rises and transports gas, and liquids or molten substances, and causes the crust (landmass, and ocean floor) to move.
