In the firsts paragraphs, we learn about Oruro that she is old and alone, so she has no fears of the consequences that may come from revealing the story she is about to. there is nothing left for her, death is near,s he can hurt no one because there is no one, and the gods won't answer.

She thinks of the gods that they are not judges. she can accuse them because they won't answer as terrors and plagues are not answered.
