Hence, the numbers are 16 and 4

<u>Further Explanation:</u>

First of all we have to make the equations from the word problem.

Let x be the first number and y be the second number.

Then,

The sum of two numbers is 20 => x + y = 20 => Eqn 1

The difference  between three times the first number and  twice the second is 40 => 3x-2y = 40 => Eqn 2

From\ Eqn\ 1\\x+y=20\\y = 20-x\\Putting\ y=20-x\ into\ Eqn\ 2\\3x - 2(20-x) = 40\\3x-40+2x = 40\\5x-40 = 40\\5x = 40+40\\5x = 80\\\frac{5x}{5} = \frac{80}{5} \\x = 16\\y = 20-x\\y=20-16\\y = 4

The numbers can be verified:

x+y = 20\\16+4 =20\\20=20\\

As the equation is verified by the values of x and y.

Hence, the numbers are 16 and 4

To which subset of real numbers does the number 1/5 belong?
nasty-shy [4]

Answer: Option 'B' and 'C' are correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we know that irrational numbers are those real number which cannot be written in \frac{p}{q} form.

Rational numbers are those real numbers which can be written in \frac{p}{q} form.

Inverse property of multiplication is that property in which we write a number in reciprocal form .

Whole numbers starts from 0 and Natural numbers start from 1 and Integers contain both positive and negative numbers.

Hence, \frac{1}{5} belongs to rational numbers sets and inverse property of multiplication sets.

Therefore, Option 'B' and 'C' are correct.

Winston has just gone grocery shopping. The mean cost for each item in his bag was $2.71. He bought a total of 9 items, and the
sukhopar [10]

The cost of the 9th item is  $3.94

Since the mean cost for the 9 items in his bag was $2.71. Then, the total cost will be: = 9 × $2.71 = $24.39

In order to get the price of the 9th item, we have to calculate the price of all the 8 items given which will be:

$2.01 + $2.20 + $2.68 + $3.59 + $3.12 + $1.64, + $1.75 + $3.46 = $20.45

Therefore, the cost of the 9th item will be:

= $24.39 - $20.45

= $3.94
