How do you solve 6/35 + 5/28

Mathematics
1 answer:
cricket20 [7]3 years ago
5 0

Make both denominators the same:

35*28=980

Then change the numerators with regard to the changed denominators

6*28=168

5*35=175

So the new fractions are 168/980 and 175/980. Added together makes 343/980. Simplifying it is:

Dividing by 7: 49/140

Dividing by 7: 7/20

So 6/35+5/28=7/20

Estimate the answer by rounding each fraction to the nearest whole number and then adding.
Natasha_Volkova [10]

Answer:

24

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we round the fractions.

If a fraction is half or more it rounds up, and if the fraction is less than half it rounds down.

7/10 is greater than half so it rounds up and we add 1 to 13 to get 14.

1/8 is less than half so we round down and remove the fraction so we are left with 10.

Then we add.

14+10=24
