Why is Tesman’s request difficult to understand?

It might be said that Tesman´s request is difficult to understand because It is unique to this play and requires an understanding of the context (option D). Each character assumed things about the married. Hedda is a woman from the 1800´s- Victorian times so she need to be understood according to her context, she might be seen as rebel but she might be restricted by her time and social standard which she could not tolerate.  She got married because "she was supposed to" . she referred herself as "coward" because she was not able to stand for her desires and break the rules.
