The sentences in this excerpt of "Editha" that have an ironic tone are:

""To think of your having such a tragedy in your life!"

This sentence is ironic because Editha brought her tragedy on her own: the only reason her fiancé is dead, which lead to an argument with his mother, is because she insisted that he went to war, even threatened to end the engagement if he didn't.

" But when you consider how much this war has done for the country!"

This has an ironic tone because wars are never positive for a country. They represent a loss of life and a heavy weight in the economy.

Answer:

The most important to us would probably be the obelisks.

Which element in a story is generally useful for descriptions of settings and feelings?
Sergio [31]
Narration is the element of a story that is typically the most useful for describing setting and feelings.

the narrator can easily describe what the characters are seeing or the place the action is happening so that the reader gets a sense of setting. Also, while the characters might reveal some of themselves and their feelings through dialogue, the narrator usually has more insight or truth in directly describing what each character is feeling in each moment.

Which pair of sentences would be most appropriate to combine using a conjunction
Irina18 [472]

An independent clause and a dependent clause.

An independent clause is a clause that can stand alone as a sentence (i.e., it expresses a complete thought). However,  a dependent clause (or subordinate clause) is one that cannot stand alone as a complete sentence because it does not express a complete thought. Cause it is not a complete thought, it is dependent on being attached to an independent clause to form a sentence. The link between a dependent clause and an independent clause will often be a subordinating conjunction or a relative pronoun.

Would it be good or bad to stay a child forever ?
Ipatiy [6.2K]
Most people would probably say good because you would be filled with energy and youth forever but on the downside you'd also miss out on a lot of things adults get to do.

I would personally say bad because instead of being stuck in school or having to listen to your parents you could find your dream job, spend time with friends, travel, etc. You can't get a job as a child until you're 16 but you are still under your parents control. So I think that it would be bad.

How this helps! :)
