Answer:

  1. A lack of preparation and adequate safety measures caused chaos following the collision.
  2. "The boats were swung out—slowly, for the deckhands were late in reaching their stations; there had been no boat drill, and many of the crew did not know to what boats they were assigned."

Explanation:

From the text of "R.M.S. Titanic", it can be seen and inferred that the chaos that occurred on the Titanic in the aftermath of the collision was mainly down to a lack of preparedness on the part of the ship's staff.

This was evidenced by the part of the text shown in the answer where the deckhands had been late to their stations and had gone through no boat drills which are very necessary things when a boat is on the high seas as the threat of sinking is never truly far off.

As to the other options, personification is giving a nonhuman thing human-like traits. Everything in the excerpt is human. Allusion is a reference to another literary work. There is no reference. Metaphor is a comparison between two things without using like or as. This uses as so it is a simile and not a metaphor.

Question 5: He plans to pretend that he has gone mad.

When Hamlet talks about "an antic disposition", he means that he is going to change his mood to one of madness. It is important to remember that mad actually means insane or crazy, not angry.

Question 6: Hamlet is saying that his madness changes like the weather, and that he is only mad some of the time.

In this piece of dialogue Hamlet is speaking of his madness like it's the wind. The wind changes directions just like his madness can change. He is trying to tell his friends that his madness is not constant but instead changes.

How is Wordsworth’s definition of poetry as "the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings" a reflection of the Romantic period?
OleMash [197]
Because during the Romantic period poetry was extremely strong and powerful, it held not only love and romance but words of sympathy and distress. Poetry was about everything, while people were still cautious of how they said things it didn't stop them from saying them. Poetry shows emotion in a way that some writing can't, not only for the dramatization that can come from it but from the way that the stanza's are created and the way that most people are capable of resonating with a  poem that is similar to a situation that they are facing in their own lives.
